Tinsel

Tinsel

It all started with a few empty mint tins, a couple bottles of nail polish and a coupling of my creative energies with a wish to recycle. Several years later these elements have morphed into a whimsical collection of hand-painted and decorated, one-of-a-kind “folk art” keepsakes. Many of my tins have already been sent to friends and family in honor of annual holidays, celebrations of life and accomplishments. Happily, it’s been years of silly fun!

Using mint tins, coffee cans and a variety of other recyclable materials I took nail polish, acrylic paint, magazine clips, packaging, stickers, cloth, tape, glitter, glue and shiny objects with metallic accents to create a an art form of “silly fun” tins.

Tinsel is a playful expression of visual arts including decoupage, collage, and watercolor mixed with the persistent curiosity and creative impulse that is typical of my Gemini persona. Thanks to encouragement from teachers, friends, family and other artists I am launching Tinsel to bring my fanciful creations to market.
There are no two alike–just like you! Hope these make you smile and ponder ways that you, too, might get involved in recycling.
